The Armor of God is taught in Ephesians 6:10–18, where Paul encourages believers to “put on the whole Armor of God” to stand against the devil’s schemes. From Scripture, each piece represents a spiritual truth we must live out:
- Belt of Truth – fastening ourselves with God’s truth to resist lies and deception (Eph. 6:14).
- Breastplate of Righteousness – living in the righteousness of Christ and guarding our hearts from sin (Eph. 6:14).
- Shoes of the Gospel of Peace – being ready to share the good news and standing firm in peace with God (Eph. 6:15).
- Shield of Faith – trusting in God to extinguish the enemy’s attacks (Eph. 6:16).
- Helmet of Salvation – protecting our minds with the assurance of salvation (Eph. 6:17).
- Sword of the Spirit – the Word of God, our offensive weapon against lies and temptation (Eph. 6:17; Heb. 4:12).
Finally, Paul says we are to be praying always in the Spirit (Eph. 6:18), showing that prayer empowers the use of the armor.
